Our Pastor

The Rev. Dr. Kirk Bridgers

A native of Savannah, Georgia, where his family settled as Lutheran refugees and  immigrants in the early 1700's, Pastor Bridgers learned early on that he was intrigued by the diversity of human behavior and developing emotional bonds with others. This love of people led him to a B.A. (With Honors)  from Newberry College, an M. Div. in 1979 from Lutheran Theological Southern Seminary and a Doctor of Divinity from Lenoir Rhyne College.

Upon graduation from seminary he accepted a call to serve as pastor of  the historic Solomon Lutheran Church est. 1797 in Eastern Tennessee.  During his tenure  he established various ministries of community outreach including Home Health Care, which provided free medical devices such as hospital beds, for home bound patients.

After receiving a call from Peachtree Road in 1984, he came to Atlanta to become Pastor and arrived to begin a process of fundraising and a total rehabilitation of existing facilities.  He established the Peachtree Road Lutheran Preschool upon his  his arrival. Today, Kirk continues both as Pastor of Peachtree Road Lutheran Church, and as Headmaster of the School, overseeing its operations on a daily basis.

Dr. Bridgers is married to the former Janet Biser of Orangeburg, SC and they are parents of two sons.  Kirk and Janet make their home in the Brookhaven neighborhood of Atlanta.
